Mayumi Kimura LCSW
Mayumi served in the United States Navy, where she specialized in operations. Upon separation, she completed her Masters in Social Work at University of New Hampshire. She worked in various settings such as home hospice, in-patient psych, crisis team and eventually settled in as a House of Corrections Program Director for a Veteran’s unit. She continued her PTSD and trauma work with Veterans that experienced trauma from combat and sexual trauma. Mayumi founded Insight Therapy and Consulting LLC as a way to serve the intersecting and diverse community she experienced along her journey.
Mayumi’s approach to therapy is humanistic and relational, but other modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, and the science behind human behavior. Guided by progress, therapy should be collaborative, organic, and fluid.
Mayumi’s style of therapy can be described as direct, blunt, with a lot of humor. Validation, compassion, and encouragement are essential, sugarcoating reality is not. She feels that any relationship can be a model on how to trust, communicate, and connect - and that includes the therapeutic relationship.

Taylor Brown ASW
Taylor provides individual therapy to youth, teens, and adults who are ready to address the challenges that often arise while navigating life transitions, BIPOC-related issues, women’s issues, relationship-based challenges, and trauma. She understands how these experiences can disrupt daily life, impact relationships, and leave you with feelings of uncertainty and instability. Taylor views the therapist’s role as facilitating a safe and healing space where clients can express themselves while working collaboratively to overcome life’s challenges. She considers the whole person—not only their internal struggles but also the social symbols that shape how they experience the world. She believes in being culturally competent and listening to clients, acknowledging them as the experts of their own experiences. By holding space with empathy, she holds her clients accountable in their recovery journey while supporting them with compassion and understanding. Taylor’s approach considers the whole person—internal struggles as well as the cultural and societal factors that shape their worldview. Taylor listens closely, acknowledging clients as the experts of their own lives, while compassionately holding them accountable in their recovery journey. She utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-Based approaches, and Mindfulness to tailor her approach to each client. By looking into a client’s past to understand how it affects the present, she helps clients overcome their obstacles and move towards healing. Taylor holds a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University with a minor in Counseling and Social Change, as well as a Master of Social Work from Walden University. She has worked across diverse settings and populations, including children with autism as a registered behavior technician, adults in inpatient mental health facilities, and juvenile youth, helping them in individual therapy to expunge their criminal records.
